So yeah, this is my random post day! It won’t be the same day very week probably because I appear to be highlyyyyy unorganised. However, I am hopefully organised enough to ensure than my normal posting day is Friday!
Anyway, hello! I have decided to do a post today similar to one i’ve done before; I’m doing a ‘What’s in my gymnastics bag’. Back in June or July I did a ‘What’s in my school bag’, so it’s going to be a bit like that! I do gymnastics every week on Thursday (6-7) and Friday (6-8) and occasionally Wednesday (8-9:30). I thought I’d share what I take with me every week because I know some people like reading these kinds of posts. I’m the same, I watch ‘What’s in my gym/school/hand bag’ videos on Youtube because it’s nice to be reassured that you’re carrying around the right stuff… if you get me!
Ok, let’s get on with it now….
WHAT’S IN MY GYMNASTICS BAG?
Firstly, this is the bag. It’s the same as my school bag (See HERE) except it is Mint and White instead of black and pink. It’s a good sturdy bag and it holds a lot… So what’s in it?
Water is very essential when doing any kind of exercise, so I always try and make sure I have a bottle in my bag!
Again, deodorant is always quite important when exercising, especially something quite high intensity like gymnastics!
Rip? Blister? Anything thing else bleeding? No fear, I have plasters in my bag! My fingers lock from time to time so I also use the plasters to secure them too!
This is useful when you’ve pulled a muscle or you have a headache or something (in general) just hurts!
5. Volterol/Ibuprofen Gel
This is, again, useful for any type of joint or muscle pain. I can’t take ibuprofen or any other kind of NSAID orally (by mouth) as it irritates my stomach, but I can run a small amount of gel into pain areas. I find this very useful for a pulled muscle or sprain (both of which I have got in the last one… I pulled my hamstring and lightly sprained my elbow!!)
6. Lip Balm
Exercise is dehydrating so I carry lip balm so that I can re-hydrate my lips otherwise they get dry and sore and that hurts!
7. Under/Pre Wrap and Sports (Zinc Oxide) Tape
This is useful when you get rips on your hand because you can put a healing gel on your hand and then put the wrap on and tape it so it doesn’t come off, and this heals your rips quickly! It’s also useful to make a light temporary bandage if you’ve hurt yourself. I also use the wrap as a hairband if my hair is being particularly annoying!!
8. Spare Hairband/Scrunchie
This is in case I forget to tie my hair up, or the hair band breaks!
This is in case I’ve got to be somewhere afterwards or I have to get changed somewhere else and walk so that I don’t have to walk around in just a leotard!
This is for asthma and I think it’s pretty self explanatory why I have it!!
9. Spare Socks
Again, this is if I need to go somewhere afterwards or I was somewhere beforehand! This is particularly useful if I was wearing tights!
10. Bar Grips and Chalk
These are for bars. Both help me stay on the bar and the grips also prevent me getting rips on my hands! I want to get some new grips soon though….
11. Small bandages
I carry these because sometimes my wrists get tired after using them a lot and these support and apply pressure, which helps.
12. Sports (KT) Tape
This is a godsend, but really hard to get off haha! It’s special tape that supports muscles after a strain or sprain. I’v used this on my hamstring and elbow this week! It comes with a leaflet which shows you how to apply it to certain areas, such as your knee or your shoulder or you ankle!
To, well, cut the tape…
So yeah, that’s what I keep in my gymnastics bag. Obviously, when I go I take my phone and also any cheques or anything that need to be paid with me as well. Occasionally I take a small snack, such as a Nakd bar. Here’s the links to some of the items if they have interested you:
Don’t forget there will be a new post on Friday too!
