Update-September 2017

Soooooo, today I had my enrolment at college… I’m officially a college student! I’m doing A Level English Lang & Lit, A Level Photography and a BTEC L3 in Health & Social Care.

Now that I’m going back to school, I need to get back into a proper routine and so I’m going to have a regular posting time. Right now it’s only preliminary because I haven’t got my timetable yet but it will probably stay the same regardless. So I will be posting:

Every Wednesday @ around 5pm

Most Saturdays OR Sundays @ around 1pm

I’m hoping to publish a post bi-weekly but I cannot guarantee what day it will be at the weekend but I will try my very best to stick to the Wednesday Post. The posting will only be different if there’s a particular special event happening or there’s something I need to post that I believe to be time critical.

Thanks for understanding!

Seeee Yaaaaaaaah Soon!

Reviewing Mug Food

So today, I’ve decided to do a review….. of Mug Food… Interesting. I tested them to see if they were worth their convenience!

In case you didn’t know mug food is a form of food designed specifically to be eaten out of a mug. I’m doing a review of three different types: Mug Shot (Pasta), Cup A Soup and Pud in a Mug. Quick Disclaimer, all these views are my own and no I’m not being paid to give a good opinion. My unhealthy bank balance of £0.91 proves this, I think!

First up, Mug Shot:

Mug Shot, a convenient pasta meal, ready in five minutes? Is it too good to be true? I have to admit, I’m a bit of a sucker for the Tomato and Herb Mug Shot (above). For a five minute mug pasta meal, it ain’t half bad is it? It comes in different flavours though and I have to admit, as much as I flippin love Mac n’ Cheese, I wasn’t a massive fan of the Mug Shot Mac n’ Cheese but I guess for under a quid and ready in five minutes, it is what it is! My mum had the blue one, I think it’s Chow Mein or something and I think she liked that! Oh yeah, all you have to do is add a splash of boiling water, stir, leave it to stand for for five minutes and bob’s your uncle (or whatever that expression is). It ain’t perfect but for the sake of five minutes, you can’t fault it much! I’m now going to rate the Tomato and Herb one:

Convenience: 7/10 (very quick, easy)

Taste: 7/10 (I like this one but not some of the other flavours)

OVERALL RATING: 4/5 STARS (I like it, it’s clever and easy and makes a nice meal when you’re a bit mehh)

Next up is Cup A Soup:

Just like the Mug Shot, this is quick and easy, no faff required. Just add hot water and leave it to stand for a few minutes. These also come in different flavours, this is a tomato and vegetable one but I also have chicken and vegetable and there’s a few others too! When I tested it to write about, I was having one of those days where everything tastes weird and nothing is appealing (thinking about it now, I probably chose a bad time!) so I now need to pretend what it would actually be like. Again, for the sake of five minutes if you need something quick, its perfect. It tastes slightly watery because it’s not exactly like real soup but can’t fault it otherwise. I like to pair soup with some crusty bread and it works well with this kind of soup too so that’s a plus!

Convenience: 8/10 (good, quick meal)

Taste: 8/10 (I prefer proper soup but this is a good quick alternative)

OVERALL RATING: 4.5 Stars (not much to fault for what it is)

Last but definitely not least, Pud in a Mug!

The only one I’ve tested is the Chocolate Chip sponge cake one, but again, it comes in different flavours such as chocolate and sticky toffee pudding. Some supermarkets do their own ones as well. I have to admit, I’m quite a fan of this! For a cake that takes 90 seconds it’s like heaven on earth! All you do is add a splash of milk, and stick it in the microwave! Admittedly not the best cake ever, but for what it is and the convenience *mwah*. I’ve had this twice and the first time it was a little soggy, I think I needed to let it cool for a couple of minutes first! The second time, I did, and it was soooososo much better. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I even added a small scoop of ice cream for that extra kick! Nom! This is probably my favourite out of the three and I’m excited to try the other flavours.

Convenience: 9/10 (a hot pudding in 1.5 minutes, yes please!)

Taste: 9/10 (when left to cool slightly and cooked perfectly)

OVERALL RATING: 5 stars!! (and the best part is, it’s less than £1!)

These are available at any good supermarket (Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, CoOp Etc.) for less than one pound! (Except the Cup a Soup but it comes in a pack of 4) See the links for Tesco (the prices vary but are very similar in all supermarkets):

Tesco- Choc Chip Pud in a Mug

Tesco- Sticky Toffee Pudding Pud in a Mug

Tesco- Choc Cake Pud in a Mug

I’m not adding all the flavours but here’s Tesco- Tomato and Herb Mug Shot

Tesco- Tomato Cup a Soup (again I’m not adding all the flavours there’s so many!)

Hope you get inspired to try some of these, they’re quite good really!

See yah

GCSE Results Day 2017

Today was GCSE Results Day! My entire secondary school career has built up to this day and I’m happy to announce that I think that I did pretty well, better than I thought I would anyway! In celebration of this I have decided I want to share my results with you! Here we go!

Maths: 5 (equivalent to a low end of B and the high end of C)

English Language: and a Merit in a Speaking task (equivalent to a C, Standard Pass)

English Literature: 5 (Strong Pass)

Business & Communications: B (I got an A* in the coursework though and then a B and a C in the exam)

Biology: B (I got 2 A and 2 C so it equalled a B overall)

Chemistry: B (I got 3 B and an A)

Physics: C (Not as good at Physics than the other sciences!!)

DT Textiles: B (A in coursework, B in exam)

French: D (It’s difficult for me to understand unfamiliar language, even English sometimes, hence why I got E in the Listening and Speaking and C in the Writing and Reading!!)

Citizenship: B

History: B (got A and A* in the exam but got a D in the coursework even though my teacher told me it was a B!)

So yeah, I’m pretty happy with those results! I don’t have to do any re-sits, yay!

Post again sooon!

The Liebster Award 2017

So, I was nominated by Hayley from imhayley.com (Thanks for that!) for something that is a big part of the blogging community and a great way for bloggers to share their work.

The Liebster Award is given to bloggers by bloggers and it is a way of bloggers being to help each other. I was asked some questions by my nominator and now I’m going to answer them because, well, I feel like I should

Q1 What are some weird food combinations you enjoy?

I’m not sure if it’s a particularly weird combo, but I like macaroni cheese and toast… I think anything else I like is pretty normal because I’m boring like that!

Q2 Who is your biggest inspiration in life?

Hmm, well I’m going to be a little bit basic here and say my mum, because, she is! But also my friends and people who live to help others such as doctors and charity workers.

Q3 When did something start out badly for you, but in the end it was great?

Well, when I started gymnastics I was pretttyyy rubbish, I always managed to create some kind of injury! But now I have improved so much and it has made me so much happier and stronger!

Q4 What’s the best/worst practical joke that you’ve played on someone or that was played on you?

I don’t think I really have much of an answer for this from personal experience, but my Dad was part of the prank played on Stephen Mulhern by Ant and Dec on their Saturday Night Takeaway show a couple of years ago as it was in the theatre he works in!

Q5 When was the last time you got to tell someone ‘I told you so’?

It was just the other day but I can’t remember what it was about hahahah!

Q6 What are you interested in that most people aren’t?

In the entire population, I’m not sure! But out of people I know, I’m the only person that has, and in interested in a Bullet Journal…. (if that counts)

Q7 If you could have an all expenses paid trip to see a world famous monument, which monument would you choose?

This is a difficult question… I want to see all of them so that I can take photographs!

Q8 What was the last song you sang along to?

*checks spotify* Galway Girl, Ed Sheeran… I think

Q9 What languages do you wish you could speak?

As many as I could so that I can communicate with many amazing people!

Yeahhh, so I guess it’s my turn to dish out nine questions, here we go:

  1. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
  2. If you could only read one book/book series for the rest of your life, what would it be?
  3. Who was the last person you called?
  4. What’s your favourite drink?
  5. What is your favourite hobby/past time?
  6. What is one product you can’t live without
  7. Would you rather have no jumpers/sweaters or no socks?
  8. How long have you been blogging for?
  9. If you could go into any career in the world, what would you choose?

I nominate for the Liebster Award: (I don’t follow that many bloggers yet I’m new to this!) (Also you don’t have to answer the questions, you just need to know your blogs are great!)

The Alice Edit

Thank you again for nominating me Hayley! I’ve enjoyed this, I’ve never done something like this before!

I wouldn’t normally post randomly like this but I got things planned for certain times so YeAH!

How to start a Bullet Journal!

I ran a poll on Twitter a few days a go asking which post I should do next out of: How to bullet journal, Reviewing mug food, a book review and my makeup routine. The results weren’t extremely useful in the fact I received 4 votes for Bullet Journal AND Book Review and 2 votes each for the other two. Obviously, I then had to decided between the two most popular ones and I decided on this one, How to Start a Bullet Journal! So here we go!

If you need reminding what a bullet journal is see –> THIS <– post. There’s also a link to a video walkthrough of my own bullet journal. A bullet journal can be whatever you want it to be, but I’m going to give you some tips on a basic layout, hopefully!

To start off with you need supplies! You’ll need:

  • A Notebook (I highly recommend the Leuchtturm 1917 notebook with dotted paper)
  • Nice black pen
  • LOTS of coloured pens

  • Highlighters

  • A Pencil
  • Rubber
  • Coloured Pencils
  • Washi Tape

OK, it kind of depends what you want to do, so you might not actually need ALL those things but there’s definitely some essentials up there! Here’s a pretty photo of my bullet Journal:

One of the first things I recommend you do is look at Pinterest or Google Images for inspiration (At least, that’s what I did!). Or you could take inspiration from mine from the My Bullet Journal Post <– Here. Then I would begin to plan out what you’re going to do (what pages). The first page I did in mine was a Key so that I could have an organised structure and keep it consistent throughout. Here’s a list of pages I think are important:

  • A Key (as mentioned above)
  • A Future Planner/Year Overview whatever you want to call it!
  • Monthly Overview/Planner
  • Weekly double page spreads

I have used over 100 pages in my bullet journal so obviously I have more than just that, I have some fun pages too. Here are some ideas:

  • Birthday/Holiday Calendar
  • Yearly Mood Tracker
  • Habit Tracker for each month
  • Doodle page
  • Books to Read page
  • Pen Swatches/Testers
  • My Wishlist
  • Monthly memories
  • Movies to watch page
  • Bucket List
  • Brain Dump page

I have a few extra pages such as blog post ideas as well.

At the beginning of every month I always follow the same structure:

  • [Month] Overview
  • [Month] Habit Tracker
  • [Month] Sleep Tracker
  • [Month] Food Log

Then I continue with each week’s spread.

Reading this back, it probably sounds very confusing, but it doesn’t have to be. It can be whatever you want it to be. Here’s a link to the walkthrough of my bullet journal and you can see all the pages and get inspired or whatever. I’ll be doing an update on it in a couple of months!

Mine’s a lot of fancy writing and nice presentation but it doesn’t have to be like that. It’s very time consuming and so if you don’t have the time to sit and do that then it won’t be like that but it doesn’t matter!

Here’s a gallery of some of my Bullet Journal Pages:

I hope that you were able to make some kind of sense of this post, I understand it maybe a bit badly explained and confusing but my next post will be 10000x better!

If you want some more information then feel free to contact me! Info on –> This <— Page!
