Hello and welcome to day six of my Lanzarote travel blog thing! Today was my second to last full day here, tomorrow is my last day and then I have the flight on Thursday morning, as I mentioned yesterday: Here’s what I got up to today:
Tuesday 16th July
Again, for some reason, I woke up fairly ‘late’ for me (I say late in inverted commas because it isn’t really considered late for a lot of people!). I think it was about 9am when I eventually got out of bed. I didn’t do all that much social media surfing either, but I did download a few podcast episodes ready so that I could listen to them in the car!
When everyone was up we travelled to Jameos del Aqua, which are essentially some underground caves. They were about an hour way from Playa Blanca so I had plenty of time to listen to the According Two podcast in the car!
It was quite cold and windy when we arrived there, made worse by the fact we had to stand in a pretty lengthy queue in order to get in. To pass time in the line, I played a little bit of Pokemon Go as there was a Pokestop there and I also had logged into some wifi! It wasn’t too bad, weather wise, once we’d paid and we were in the place though!
It was clearly a very naturally beautiful place – they have even built a couple of restaurants into the caves! The water inside was so pristine and clear and they are home to an (apparently) unique species of crab. There were so many people there looking at the landscape and taking photographs so my photos aren’t amazing; they could probably be a bit better in my opinion. It looked way more pretty in real life – these photos do not do it justice!! It was also difficult to take photos as the lighting was so harsh. (it was very cloudy and bright!)
Upon exiting the caves, you’re met with a stunning blue pool which creates a peaceful vista surrounded by palm trees. Even though it was so busy there, the pool looked so beautiful and relaxing – it was, however, man made!
After a quick look in the gift shop, we headed back into Playa Blanca, but we didn’t go back to the villa straight away. We headed into the main town for lunch as by the time we got to Playa Blanca it was already 2pm.
For lunch, we went to a small restaurant right by the sea! I had a ham and cheese sandwich with some chips. The sandwich, I think, was a bit weird and soggy but the chips were alright! At this restaurant, I saw a girl which I actually coach at gymnastics which was super strange! The remaining time spent in Playa Blanca was spent looking around some of the shops, but nobody bought anything!
It was almost 4pm by the time we got back to the villa. My mum and I went to the shop to pick up some Chips Ahoy! cookies, some pads for my period (sorry if that’s TMI!!), some sangria for my dad and some painkillers! I went into the pool for a little bit when we returned and then I went onto my computer and watched YouTube for a bit – more specifically, I watched TC2’s (TheCheernastics2) new video as they come out every Tuesday and I watched a video from sophdoesnails because she is one of my favourite YouTubers too!
Later on, my mum bought me a cup of tea (PG Tips if you were wondering!) and I began to work on this blog post before heading out in the evening! Of course, we headed down to the bowling alley again and I learnt that it isn’t actually open on Mondays so it’s a good thing we didn’t try and go yesterday! My dad won again and my mum came a close second – I played a little bit better than I did on Sunday evening!
We went to Cafe del Puerto for dinner, which is where we went a few nights ago. My mum wanted to go there as she really liked the pasta she had there. I had a children’s spaghetti followed by a cappuccino which was very nice!
After dinner, we returned to the villa and I finished up this blog post whilst messaging my friends on Facebook!
I hope you enjoyed my sixth update of my Lanzarote holiday! Only one or two more posts left!
Thanks for reading – see you tomorrow!
