Welcome to my fifth instalment of my Lanzarote holiday travel blogs! There’s not that many left now, only Tuesday and Wednesday and then I come back on Thursday! Anyway, here’s what I got up to today, enjoy:
Monday 15th July
(Hey Ellen – only 5 days until your birthday!)
This morning I woke up slightly later than usual for some reason and as normal I got up and looked through my phone whilst nibbling on some Oreos and sipping on peach iced tea. Once everyone was awake, we jumped in the car and headed over to Rancho Texas!
Rancho Texas is essentially a conservation park, or zoo, in Puerto Del Carmen. I went there when I went to Lanzarote YEARS ago (it was in roughly 2005?) but I couldn’t really remember it so we went back! Last time I went, I had my photograph taken with a parrot! I ran out of data on my phone so unfortunately I couldn’t listen to my podcast in the car on the way… (sad times – I’ve learnt to download them now)
The first thing we did once we arrived at Rancho Texas was watch the Sea-Lion Show! It was amazing and the animals are really quite clever. Me and my dad were discussing the fact that sea lions are really quite like dogs and so from that point forward, they were referred to as ‘Sea-Labradors’! After the show, we wandered around and saw some penguins and some other animals such as donkeys and crocodiles! We then stopped for lunch at a restaurant; Me and my mum shared a pizza and chips while my dad had a cheeseburger.
After lunch, we went to watch a birds of prey show in the blazing heat. It was very interesting as they told us a lot of information about each of the birds, most of which were some kind of eagle. They even showed us some of their hunting techniques. The biggest bird had a wingspan of three metres!!
Straight after watching the bird show, we went on to watch some dolphins! They were so cute and did so many clever things, again we were told a lot of facts about them! It was very warm at the bird and sea lion show, but thankfully there was a nice breeze at the dolphin show which made it much more pleasant to watch!
Later on, we explored more of the zoo. I saw various creatures including meerkats, tortoises, turtles, parrots and even otters and chameleons! I also had an ice cream because it was so warm outside.
That pretty much concludes my day at Rancho Texas – we returned to the villa sometime mid afternoon. Once we’d returned, I had a (very quick) dip in the pool and then I had a warm-ish bath as unfortunately I was experiencing period pain. After my bath, I got changed into some comfortable clothes (sweatshirt and Nike Pros!) and started to work on this blog post!
As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, my arm was becoming fatigued from bowling so today we had a go at a 9 hole mini golf. It was quite fun! My mum won, I came second and my dad came third. For most of the time, we were the only people on the golf course!
We had dinner at the marina at around 7pm at a place called Liken. I had grilled fish and chips for my main and a latte (of course) as my dessert. It was very tasty! After dinner we returned to the villa and I finished writing this post!
I hope you enjoyed this post, sorry some of the pictures aren’t the best quality – I had to zoom in quite a lot in some of them!
Thanks for reading – see you tomorrow!
