Welcome to the final instalment of my Lanzarote series! I think that this is going to be a fairly short post, but we’ll see how it goes!
Thursday 18th July
This morning I woke up early-ish because we had to get to the airport for 9am and Playa Blanca is about 40 minutes away from Arrecife (where the airport is). Once I woke up, I got dressed and packed my remaining things and then I basically just waited until everyone was ready to go.
We found the car hire place way easier that we thought we were going to so we were able to drop the car off super quickly and head straight into departures at the airport. We had to wait for check in/bag drop to open as we got there earlier than we expected to, so I bought a few coffees for us to have. I had a caramel latte and my parents had americanos – even though I actually ordered a latte for my mum but I don’t think the barista’s English was very good so she got a bit confused. I also had a quick look in a newsagent-y type shop whilst waiting for check in/bag drop to open.
Straight after checking our hold baggage in, we went to security. Me and my mum got through super easily, but it took ages for my dad to get through. At one point, I actually lost both of my parents because my mum went to the toilet somewhere and my dad was being held back in security. It was okay though because it meant I had loads of time to try and squeeze my laptop back in my bag without being rushed.
Once EVERYONE got through security, we grabbed breakfast. I got a ham and cheese baguette and some orange juice and it was pretty tasty- although I find the taste of European/Spanish ham a bit odd sometimes. The gate information was released at 10:30, and then the flight was at 11:10!
We were quite near the back of the plane, row 24 D E & F. My dad very kindly let me sit next to the window, normally he nabs that seat straight away! Shortly after we took off, the first food/bistro service came around. I had a chocolate brownie, a peach ice tea and a hot chocolate – all of which was super yummy.
On the flight, I entertained myself by playing a couple of games on my phone – a favourite of mine being Disney Crossy Road. I also listened to the According Two podcast as I had downloaded them all onto my phone!
Later on another food service came around and this time I had a cappuccino and some Harribo Goldbears (to share). My dad got some aftershave off of the duty free, it only cost him £19 whereas it would cost over £40 on the high street (it was Calvin Klein, fancy fancy!).
We landed just after 3pm and we walked (a very long way!) to Passport Control. We got through this really quickly as firstly we were coming back into the UK anyway so it tends to be quicker and also we all have ‘e-Passports’ which means we can go through these digitised fast gate things which is much quicker (generally) than standard passport control.
After this, we went to baggage reclaim and we had to wait a while for the bags to be released. However, ours were some of the first bags in our flight to be released onto the conveyor belt thing so that’s good! We got home pretty quickly after this – we just had to book a taxi, but then we ended up waiting less than five minutes for it!
When we got home, we went to the shop quickly to grab some essentials and then I got ready to go to gymnastics. Gymnastics was alright and quite low key, which is exactly what I needed!
When I got home from gymnastics, as you can probably guess, I pretty much just sat down and wrote this blog post! I hope you enjoyed my Lanzarote series and I hope that it wasn’t too boring! Let me know what your favourite day was!
Normal posts will resume now and I have quite a few ideas so hopefully they’ll get written super fast and then you can read them.
Oh, if for some reason you’re interested in what I’m doing tomorrow, I’m going to go shopping in the morning, and then go to the gym in the afternoon! In the evening, I have gymnastics again! Just thought you might want to know as you’ve pretty much stalked my every move for the past week!
Thank you for reading – really hope you enjoyed the posts!
