So this post may be a little bit late, seeing that there’s only 9 DAYS until Christmas and I imagine that everyone has already done their shopping (though you’d be surprised!). I’m going to give you some tips anyway that I find useful, maybe you could use them next year!
TIP ONE: Don’t go at a ‘Peak Time’
Basically I’m saying if you can avoid Saturday Lunchtime in early December, DO! My friend and I went on a Thursday Evening (as town is open later on a Thursday) in early November and it was fine! But I imagine if I were to go today, being a Saturday 9 days before Christmas , that would be a different story!
TIP TWO: A big handbag
What? No, seriously take a big handbag! You can put your lists, all your small items of shopping, your money (of course) and any bottles of water/food that you buy or bring with you. Though it doesn’t lighten the load, it can make it more manageable! I have one that I bought from H&M a few years ago *checks website to find one vaguely similar* like this except I think mine’s a little bit bigger!
TIP THREE: PlanPlanPlanPlan
Yes, plan exactly where you’re going to go and exactly what you’re going to buy and exactly what you’re going to do if they don’t have a specific item that you need. If you happen to see anything else you like, that’s an added bonus!
TIP FOUR: BudgetBudgetBudgetBudget
In your perfect shopping plan, include your budget for everyone! For instance if you have three sisters and you want to spend £10 on each then plan what you’re going to buy for each one to equals your budget. Avoid going under or over budget in your planning, and if one of the things is in sale… well, nobody needs to know that!
TIP FIVE: Make a Day of it!
Don’t walk into town and be like ‘I’m going to get all this done in half an hour, and then go home’ because it’s likely you’ll get stressed. Instead, take it easy, go somewhere nice for breakfast/lunch/tea and don’t rush because I think that it’s meant to be enjoyable… buying things for the people you love, but if you’re just stressed then it’s not really is it?
These are the best tips I can think of at the moment, hopefully they’re relevant and useful! You can test them out next year!
See you tomorrow for Day 5!
